Catherine Lang

Otherwise known as Cath or Katty

20.11.60-29.06.19

Catherine Lang was born on 20th November 1960 to Edna May and Conrad Lang. She had 6 siblings John, Micheal, Carmen, Peter, Jennifer and Eddie. Catherine grew up in Brockley, 43 Bovill Road to be exact. There were always plenty of stories about 43. She attended Dalmain primary school and later went onto Sydenham girls.

Catherine welcomed her two girls Tillena and Nadine. She absolutely adored her girls and was a great mother raising her children. She even extended that motherly love to Ryan and embraced him as her son.

Catherine was an outgoing, spiritual, loving and wise woman. She would always put others before herself.

Jerningham Road was an open house as she was so welcoming. If we only had 2 loafs of bread and a house full of people she sure knew had to make it spread. Coming like Jesus feeding the 5000. The notorious house parties started here, as Catherine loved to entertain. The ones where the kids would go to sleep and wake the next morning and the party is still booming.

Catherine worked as a legal secretary at a law firm in London, she worked hard to ensure that she could provide for her girls.

Catherine later bought her house on Braxfield Rd as the girls were getting bigger and outgrowing the space. She did this successfully all on her own. We had many BBQs here, with good food, drink, music and pure vibes. It was here where she became green fingered and developed a love for gardening. Cath's garden was immaculate and the rose bushes were really coming into their own courtesy of her grandchildren Brandon and Dylan placentas.

Catherine welcomed her first grandchild Brandon, followed by Dylan, Jayda, Khai, Tiana, Zion, India and Adrian. She was a great nanny and had a wonderful relationship with her grandchildren and loved to watch them grow.

In 2014 Catherine decided to move out of London and settle by the coast in Margate. She bought a beautiful home where all her children and grandchildren could enjoy the fruits of her labour. There was plenty of space in the garden and the beach was in walking distance. Many great summers were spent here and amazing memories created.

Catherine was really coming into her own and was in her happiest space here, her girls were grown, she had worked hard and was finally living for herself. She loved to travel and visited many countries.

It is so sad that her life was taken so soon as she had so much more to live for.

Catherine loved to cook, she watched Masterchef and had every kitchen utensil going, with around 20 chopping boards. She also had a great palette for wine and often enjoyed a glass or two. She introduced many of her friend to Jammy Red Roo, by Yellow Tail, a very drinkable red. IYKYK.

She loved her music and introduced many to the latest artists. We had the latest vinyls/ CDs and there wasn’t a day where music wasn’t playing. Cath enjoyed a variety of different genres.

In later years she loved to watch Strictly Come Dancing, Masterchef and Games of Thrones still connecting with modern culture.

Cath was a great speaker and will often get in deep conversations, you need to overstand that once she got on her soap box you could be there for a long time listening. But she was an intellectual wise woman that did a lot of research so could support her arguments with facts.

Cath was the life and soul of the party, always having a good time and ready to do the candy dance whether it be on the beach or in the garden.

Catherine had a great sense of humour and was always cracking jokes.

She showed nothing but unconditional love, she had such a pure heart, you were drawn to her positive infectious love of life.

Life hasn’t been the same, she touched so many people lives, was the matriarch of our family and was the anchor that held us down. Now we are ships adrift.

Cath is missed dearly and we will love her endlessly.
